2nd Annual Desiderata Film Festival

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

2010 marks the second year of the Desiderata Film Festival. Last year saw the screening of over 60 submissions, along with selected premiers of various independent features, documentaries, and music videos, and a special screening of Amos Poe's ('Subway Riders', 'The Guitar', 'The Blank Generation') 3 hour experimental 'Empire 2' - a tribute to Andy Warhol's 'Empire' film. Various live performances, Q&A's, media presentations and lectures occurred in the Media Center - held in a 250 year old barn where Teddy Roosevelt learned to box - including a session with philosopher Daniel Pinchbeck, a multimedia presentation by the Resonance Project, live performances from Eddies in The Water and the Intangible Collective, as well as late-night video game tournaments with a Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and Nintendo 64 - all played on a 12ft by 12ft projection screen. This year, the film festival will be spread out over the course of 3 of the 5 days. One day for feature length narratives and documentaries, one day for short narratives and documentaries under 35 minutes in length, and one day devoted entirely to music videos and experimental cinema. All excepted submissions receive discounted ticket prices, and the first and second place winners receive two and one free ticket to the festival respectively. The grand prize winner will receive two free VIP passes, along with a slew of goodies and networking possibilities to be had at the festival.

Most importantly, all those interested in Desiderata are encouraged to submit ideas, suggestions, and potential performance opportunities so that the festival can live up to its absolute potential. This is the people's festival. For the people, by the people.
